MUMBAI: The comeback of melodies is a welcome sign to counter the heavy frantic beats of item songs and club tracks, veteran music director Ashok Bhadra said. A well-known name in the Bengali film world where he has scored for over 150 films, Bhadra is making his Bollywood debut with upcoming film ‘Bloody Isshq’ directed by Arup Dutta.
Bhadra has a galaxy of Bollywood’s leading playback singers like KK, Sunidhi Chauhan, Shreya Ghosal, Javed Ali, June Banerjee, Usha Uthap, Zubeen Garg and Sonu Nigam for the eight tracks of the suspense thriller.
Bhadra’s work in the film is characterized by pleasant melodies (even in the up tempo tracks) and organic sound that doesn’t jar the ears.

Speaking on the film music scenario with Radioandmusic.com, Bhadra said that he was glad that Bengali and Hindi influenced melodies were making a comeback. “The new music directors were too steeped in western music and their work has been full of western-styled beats, overkill of orchestration and very little melody,” he said.
Audiences and musicians are re-discovering the importance of melodies, orchestration and the live sound which had been missing in Bollywood music in the last 10 years. He said Pritam and Sajid-Wajid were music directors who stood out among the current crop because of their ability to make their songs sound acoustic even if they were using programmed sounds.
“As a music director, I focus on my strengths which are melody and orchestration with strong Indian melody which has history. Although Bloody Isshq is my Bollywood debut, I am not nervous working here because, I often come to Mumbai to do the recordings. I have three more projects lined up for producers here,” he added.
The story progresses with the songs of the film which are penned down by Kumaar and the music is on Worldwide Records.
