Glastonbury Festival to be broadcast worldwide

MUMBAI: The definition of live music experience will change as the world’s most popular Glastonbury Music Festival enters its 40th anniversary. Reportedly, BBC Worldwide Music has signed an exclusive TV deal to put the five-day event that will start from 23 June 2010.

This means, viewers across the globe will be able to watch acts like U2, Muse and Jack Johnson from the comfort of their homes.Since 1985, BBCW Audio and Music had held the radio rights to broadcast the festival across 40 territories. This time, BBCW Music has held the TV rights to the festival.

Started in early 1970s by Michael Eavis, Glastonbury featured performances of The Who, amongst many other other artists that shaped the rock music genre. In addition to this, Glastonbury was also named as a top International Music Festival of the Year.

The fest is know for is open air extravaganza and is already sold out.
