MUMBAI: After doing live tours, multi-talented Neeraj Shridhar is back home relaxing and enjoying with family. Known for popular remixes hits like ‘Kya Soorat Hai’, ‘Woh Chali’ and ‘Chod Do Anchal’, the multi-talented singer-lyricist-composer plans to give a serious consideration to music direction.
Speaking with Radioandmusic.com said, Shridhar says, “I have sung many songs lately. In spite of knowing the fact that some songs will not work well among audience still I do sing them because if I deny people think I am acting pricey. I have sung enough now and I am planning of giving music direction a serious thought once I finish all my tours. But I will still continue singing which I enjoy doing a lot.”
Moreover, Shridhar has given new talents an opportunity to work with him. He has collaborated with Kissh from South Africa who was his fan for long for an album. He has also finished working on a music album with Chandigarh-based Kanishka and he hopes the sufi album will be out soon. “I always believe in giving opportunity to newcomers because I was one of them at some point of time. So I work with newcomers a lot and enjoy it. This way we learn new skills from them and they learn through our experience,” he adds.
Speaking about his constant tours of last year, he says, “People think it is fun to travel around and tour but at times it is very strenuous because there are back to back tours, lack of sleep and you are away from family for long. But at the same time it is a wonderful experience to meet fans around the world.”
The growing roar around item number has been increasing. When asked Shridhar’s view on it he said that it is mostly the promotional video for the film which is called as an item number. He kind of disagrees with the term but feels that dance numbers do play a really important role today.
He also highlighted that Dabangg’s ‘Munni Badanam Hui’ had been a trend setter where and promoted the film well. Shridhar opines, “It should be called promotional video instead of an item number. But these videos have started using songs that have double meaning which is really disheartening.”
Welcoming the new trend of multi-music composers in the film, Shridhar says, “New directors have started experimenting with new music as they want new style in their films.” He too plans to collaborate with young talents- directors, producers and artistes.
