MUMBAI: Chennai-based electro indie/dance funk outfit The F16’s spent most of the second half of 2015 recording its debut full-length album. With two EPs to its name, the band claims the new album, titled ‘TriggerPunkte’, has an edge over the earlier releases – Kaleidoscope and Nobody’s Gonna Wait.
The band intends to release the album before the monsoon this year. The recording sessions have begun at Mumbai’s Cotton Press Studio, under Rohan Ramanna, and the band has this to say about its new effort – “A few new tangents that we are trying to explore. Trying to shake things on this record.”
The F16’s have produced some unique sounds throughout their existence of over three years so far, and with the release of the 2-track EP ‘Nobody’s Gonna Wait’ in 2015, the band believed a full-length album was the next logical step. The 5-piece band has extensively toured since the idea of ‘TriggerPunkte’ emerged, and the promotional efforts for TriggerPunkte do not end there.

So, is Dualist Inquiry collaborating for the album? “That’s for us to know and you to find out. We just shared a meal with him and that was all. Or was it?” The band continues to sustain the suspense. “All we can tell you now is, we are trying to spice things up visually. Work is in progress for now.”
The band has had nothing less than an exhilarating journey so far; one that brings them back to Hard Rock Andheri after almost a year. How do they plan to celebrate the return? “Hard Rock Cafe is always a great place to play. Our synth player Harshan hurt himself a couple of days ago. So we have toyed with a few new arrangements for some of the set staples,” the band told Radioandmusic.com.
The band will perform at Hard Rock Cafe Andheri on 4 February. (8.30 p.m.)
