MUMBAI: One of the memorable voices from popular 90s hits is that of Sadasivan KM Nambisan aka Sadu. The vocalist, lyricist, composer and a founder member of the famous erstwhile pop act, Sadu is determined to carry forward the legacy of hummable melodies.
In tandem with his latest series of contemporary ghazal releases, Habeeb evokes a feel of the old-fashioned yet evergreen simplicity of romance from the eras gone by. Enhanced by soft vocals along with saxophone and piano sections, Habeeb is based on the poetry of Bashir Badr, composed and sung by Sadu, who is well-known as the founder member of the famous erstwhile pop act – Aryans. The laidback track centres around the emotions of longing, desire and the occasional inability of lovers, to be able to express their true feelings.
What started as a pursuit to entertain the audiences during the first phase of nationwide lockdown in 2020, has now become a well-appreciated string of singles that looks at the timeless genre of ghazals with ‘contemporary’ glasses. This is his third release in this series of contemporary ghazals after Aankh Se Door Na Ho & Khoj: In Search of Self.
