MUMBAI: The Essar Group’s mobile retail chain, Mobile Store, has come up with its flagship handsets. It recently launched its new handset Ray T60.
The fully touch pad dual SIM handset is available for Rs 6,399. That’s one reason it may appeal to the teenyboppers who want more features and cannot shell out too much money. But with so many touchpad handsets available in the market, there are slim chances of this handset scoring above them.

It is the one area where the handset scores brownie points. With a metallic finish body, the mobile looks attractive enough, giving it a high-end handset feel. It is also lighter as compared to the other touchpad handsets available in the market. Though it looks a tad too delicate, it is sturdy enough.
Display
The feature that will lure the users most is the dual SIM and fully touchpad screen. The considerably large 3 inch WQVGA Touch screen and Touch lens is also quite a breather. The display however is not very impressive, and might feel a big similar to the dime a dozen chinese handsets available in the market.
There is no physical keyboard, it has a Qwerty keyboard which is too crammed up hence texting seems quite a daunting task. Numbers not appearing simultaneously along with the alphabets are another potential cause for annoyance.
The stylus is short as compared to the standard ones available in the market. It is not as sensitive either due to which users can falter while using. Tapping and scrolling is often problematic
Game lovers will however be pleased with the availability of the motion games.
The handset has 750 Kb of memory, which can be expanded upto 8GB using the TransFlash memory slot. The phone also provides with Bluetooth with A2DP support.
Camera
It is loaded with a 2 mega pixel camera, though the flash feature is missing. But then that’s expecting too much under this price bracket. Do not anticipate anything great from the camera. The pictures appear hazy and are just passable sometimes.
Music
The phone doesn’t have FM, which mars one’s enthusiasm since FM has increasingly become an important feature of a basic mobile phone. The in-built memory is very low hence installing a memory chip becomes a necessity. Talking about the music player’s sound quality is pretty middle-of-the-road and it does not sport any ground breaking feature as such.
Battery
The battery backup is strictly okay. The phone can stand under two days of charging. Though if the music player is used often, it wouldn’t even last that long
Verdict
If you want a phone docked with features and yet if quality is not an issue with you, go for it. It is easy on the pocket and looks great whilst the functioning is not that groovy. There is nothing too innovative, except for its price tag. But then as they say, you can’t have your cake and eat it too!!
