MUMBAI: After scoring music for more than a dozen Tamil and Telugu films, young South Indian composer G V Prakash is all set to make his debut in the Hindi film industry.
I am waiting for a big break in Bollywood,… says the composer who has been offered a three film deal by Vikram Bhatt for his home production. Vikram has offered me a three film deal. I will go through the script and only then sign it,… says the 22 year old.
Clearing the air about bagging Farah Khan’s project with Shah Rukh Khan, Prakash says, Nothing has been finalised with Farah. I am still in talks with her, though I would really like to work with her,… says Prakash.
The composer has scored music for some big projects down south which include Rajnikanth starrer â€?Kuselan’, released in 2008. He made Punjabi singer Daler Mehandi croon melodies for both the Tamil and Telugu version of the film
Coming from a rich lineage of musical family (he is the nephew of A.R.Rahman) Prakash says, The comparison with A R is inevitable. I have worked with him on a couple of Hindi projects including Mangal Pandey, Swades, Kisna and few more. But I am here on my own merit.
My first film â€?Veyil’ was selected for the Cannes Film Festival. It also won the National Award and won almost all popular awards in South. I was never approached because I was A R’s nephew. The producers came to me listening to the advertising jingles that I composed. Nobody will entertain me if I am not talented,… says Prakash.
Talking about Rahman’s impact on his music Prakash says, I grew up listening to his music. He definitely had a huge impact on me. But I have my own perspective a composer….
Talking about his future projects Prakash says, I have couple of projects in hand. The one that I am particularly excited about is a Tamil movie which is on the Indiana Jones genre. It will be a new genus for the audiences. I am also looking forward to my foray into the Hindi film industry….
