BANGALORE: The Great Indian October Fest (TGIOF) is poised to grow larger this year with 75,000 footfalls expected across its three-day course starting 22 October in Bangalore. Last year this annual event attracted 50,000 people.
Four International bands from Italy, the UK and Canada will be among the 22 performers which include a medley of local Bangalore bands as well as bands from across India covering genres ranging from Electronica Rock to Classical Rock to Metal to Reggae and Indi Rock as well Bollywood contributions from Shaan, Mohit Chauhan and DJs Aqueel and Chico.

Over the years, the think tank at Kingfisher has experimented with the format of the musical event. Besides bringing in four international bands this year, it has included a â€?Metal Hour’ every day from 2 to 5 pm. It has added a lot more genres of musical performances and more non-music attractions.
UB wants to make TGIOF a tourist attraction for visitors to Bangalore, and has tied up with over 2500 travel agents in the country for offering packages and season tickets to the event and stays in three- and five star hotels in the city. Over the past two months or so, it has run around 350 events and contests in pubs, cafes, and other venues and had music events in nine major metros UB has also organized curtain raisers at a number of cities to attract visitors from outside the city.
