MUMBAI: FM Tadka Jaipur did something really special for HIV+ children on 1 December, 2015 (World Aids Day) and so did its morning show Radio Jockey Devangana.
To bring awareness amongst the masses about HIV, the station invited seven to eight HIV+ children in the age group of six to fourteen. These kids were a part of the station’s morning show for a good two hours during which they chit-chatted with RJ Devangana. It was only after the kids left the station that the jock revealed the fact that her little guests were HIV+.
“We wanted to do something to bring awareness about HIV amongst the masses. Even today people maintain their distance from HIV+ children and adults. The fact is that this disease does not spread by hugging, touching or having food with them. Thus we got these kids in the studio and we played fun games with them, clicked pictures and also hugged them. This was a clear message that they deserve the same love as the other kids around us do,” said Devangana.

Apart from the studio interaction, Devangana treated HIV+ children living in a slum with some good Rajasthani lunch on a personal level. “There were around 70 HIV positive children who had lunch with me,” revealed the RJ.
Devangana appeals, “One must spend more time with these people for you do not know how many days they have left to themselves. More than that they deserve to be loved and cared for like the other kids.”
