MUMBAI: Some of the country’s leading musicians and bands will head to the hills of Uttaranchal for a four-day jam session at the 1st Aquajam organized by global music lovers’ platform, V Play Foundation.
The event, which will be held at The Lake Village, Naukuchiatal 25 kms from Nanital from 24-27 October, will be inaugurated by Indian Classical singer Shubha Mudgal.
Up to 30 bands- Indian Ocean, Parikrama, Half Step Down, Val Shipley, Bobby Cash, Advaita, Nasya, Adil and Vasundhara- from India and Cross Breed from Mauritius are set to perform. An average of seven bands will perform everyday and conclude with DJ club sessions.

It will be a great interactive platform for young budding musicians to collaborate with the stalwarts of Indian music in front of a live audience. The four-day music festival promises to be a class apart owing to its duration, translating into an unhurried experience, in a venue that complements the magnitude and scope, organizers said.
“The event is to promote new talent and enjoy the music of some of the best of the country’s established artists. There will be jams everyday and special concerts every night. We are expecting audiences from India and abroad- mainly South Africa and Mauritius,” V Play representative told Radioandmusic.com (RnM).
The artist management for Aquajam has been undertaken by Parikrama’s new event programming initiative.
Band keyboard player and manager for Parikrama, Subir Malik in a released statement said, “Though our role is mainly artist management, we are doing a few extra things for the fest, as the organizers are doing this for the first time. It involves press, production, pre-concerts, publicity, tie-ups, etc. We have had the organizers with us on every step and have passed on all the direct contacts to them, hence next year it shall be more delegated and of course, bigger. The biggest challenge is that Aqua Jam needs headlining acts for all four days without any sponsors. This was almost impossible with the given budgets. But for us, the bigger the challenges, the better it is, since we get a great feeling after coming out as winners.”
“There is no concept of a headlining act for Aquajam and all the bands and artists are getting together as a big team. You can expect bands like Parikrama to play their originals,” said participants Val Shipley and Parikrama guitarist Sonam Sherpa.
