MUMBAI: Legendary British blues-rock guitarist Eric Clapton is set to release his 21st studio album ‘Old Sock’- his first in more than a decade- in spring.
The album, produced by Clapton, Doyle Bramhall II, Justin Stanley and Simon Climie, under his label Bushbranch will be released on 12 March. The record will be distributed through a new collaboration with Surfdog Records in the USA and Canada, and released by Polydor Records in the rest of world, as per company statement.
Primarily a collection of old favourites, the album has Clapton playing the songs of Leadbelly, JJ Cale, Peter Tosh, George Gershwin, Hank Snow, Gary Moore and Taj Mahal. The two new tracks are ‘Every Little Thing’ and ‘Gotta Get Over’.

Clapton’s band for the 12 tracks on Old Socks consisted of longtime collaborators Steve Gadd (drums), Willie Weeks (bass) and Chris Stainton (keyboards) along with surprise guest additions.
JJ Cale joins the song ‘Angel’ for backing vocals and guitar, Chaka Khan joins as backing vocalist for ‘Get On Over,’ Steve Winwood on the Hammond B3 Organ on ‘Still Got The Blues,’ Paul McCartney on bass/vocals on ‘All of Me,’ Jim Keltner on drums for ‘Our Love is Here To Stay’.
