‘Entertainment’ is an upcoming Bollywood slapstick-comedy movie directed by the duo Sajid-Farhad. It stars Akshay Kumar and Tamannaah Bhatia and its music is composed by duo Sachin-Jigar, famous for making music for movies like ‘Go, Goa, Gone’, ‘Shuddh Desi Romance ‘and others.
Veeray Di Wedding: Sung by Mika, the song is just what one would expect – a typical Mika Singh track. It gives a Punjabi wedding feel, doing justice to its purpose. It is upbeat but definitely not a powerhouse. It has a tad bit of electronic feel to it, much like most of the Bollywood music these days. Thankfully, the track is not noisy but it is, throughout, monotonous.
It also has a remix version which could have been better but, does not offer anything more than the original track.
Tera Naam Doon: Undoubtedly the best track of the album, it is sung by Atif Aslam and Shalmali Kholgale. This love ballad offers a melodious tune with Aslam’s smooth vocals overshadowing the female singer’s part in the song; although the vocals sound heavily processed. It also has a sufi feel to it with beautiful old school instrumentations – tabla and flute.
Johnny Johnny: Composition of ‘Johnny Johnny Chug it Chug it’ brings to mind the composer duo’s music in ‘Go Goa Gone’. This track is heavily electronic with obvious auto-tune processing. Sung by Jigar, Priyal Panchal and Madhav Krishna, it could have been an ideal Yo Yo Honey Singh track. It is very similar to Singh’s ‘Char bottle Vodka’ with a nasal chorus voice- a drastic attempt at making it sound like a nursery rhyme. It is also a failed attempt at trying too hard to be funny.
Teri Mahimaa Aprampaar: This song becomes unique due to the extremely different vocalists who have lent their voices – Anushka Manchanda and Udit Narayan. Although the music and the vocals sound fresh, lyrically the track is weak and repetitive. The song is fun but, completely banal with the vocalist singing “Teri Mahima Aprampaar, How I wonder what you are” over and over, making the track seem pointless.
Nahin Woh Saamne: This is a two minute, slow and mellow track, once again sung by Atif Aslam. It is musically strong with smooth instrumentation. It is an extension of ‘Tera Naam Doon’ but, does not add anything to the album. It could have had the potential to be another good installation to the album but, it hardly qualifies due to its length.
