MUMBAI: Spanish-Latin popstar Enrique Iglesias who in 2004 left quite a mark on Indian audience with his jam-packed concert in Mumbai was eagerly waited when the popstar announced his three city concert-tour this year in India. The eight years long wait finally came to an end for both Enrique Iglesias as well as for his fans as ‘King of Latin Pop’ performed his first concert on 17 March 2012 in Pune.
Neither the deserted location of an event nor the ongoing festive season mellowed Enrique’s fans from witnessing their beloved idol performing live. Crowded Amanora Park town road and packed parking lots was the first thing that was witnessed by the bystanders, the ever so quiet road was bustling with full action as the concert time approached.
The change in the ambience of fully secured venue was soon witnessed as the arena gates opened at 6.30pm and soon within 20mins residential DJ’s ‘Sa’ and ‘Nucleya’ took the responsibility of warming up the crowd for the grant event. Dj’s succeeded in uplifting crowd’s excitement with tracks like ‘We found Love’ (Rihanna), ‘Part Rock’ (LMFAO), ‘Move like Jagger’ (Maroon 5), ‘Give me everything tonight’ (Pitbull) and more. But the minute clock ticked 8.00 all the excitement started to drown as the unending wait took toll on audiences’ patience.

After waiting for almost two hours, the avid followers finally got a glimpse of the international figure at around 8.30 pm as ‘Enrique Iglesias’ made his grand entry in front of almost 12,000 rock-city fans. The crowd soon went berserk as the Spanish popstar took the stage on fire with his hit single Tonight I’m Loving You which was immediately followed by the strings of chartbusters like ‘I like How it feels’, Be with You and Rhythm Divine.
Performing in midst of stunning display of light and sound, Enrique addressed his fans and stated that performing in India has always been his dream. “Since my first performance in 2004 I am begging to my organizers and manager to arrange a tour in India for over and over again. But now in 2012 my plea has finally been heard and I won’t mind performing every year.”
With the crowd on its helm, Enrique belted his first internationally famed track ‘Bailamos’ which was followed by yet another hit Dirty Dancer with the backed drop of Usher’s audio video visuals. The night soared and the thumping heartbeats refused to die down as the popstar literally swept his fans of their feet and pulled few of the lucky fans on stage. The selected fain gained an opportunity to groove with Enrique on the special demanded tracks ‘Hero’, ‘I like it’ and his personal favorite ‘Stand by Me’ (John Lenon).
The open-end relationship with his fans just fuelled up the existing screams and frenzy as the Spanish star performed in midst of his fans. As the temperature rose to its height, Enrique dashed out his most loved hit single ‘Escape’ which was followed by another crowd favorite groovy track ‘I like it’. While crowd got prepped up with the back to back hits, Enrique once again performed his opening track ‘Tonight I’m Loving You’ and made a quick exit tagging the track as the last song of the concert.
Summing up, Enrique rocked the whole arena and brought the house down with audiences applauding, grooving and echoing the chorus. The whole concept was a dream, as sudden was the entry of the popstar equally stunning was the exit. Given the fact that the concert started late, the crowd was expecting atleast a two-hour concert but the event was wrapped by 10pm. The concert was a light and sound treat for all the music lovers across the city, who just couldn’t get enough of it. The much awaited night depicting a great international concert was simply perfect and left audience with nothing but great memories and awe struck performance.
