MUMBAI: Eminem will make history on 11 July 2014 when he headlines Wembley Stadium, as the first rapper to do so. The 41 year old confirmed on a BBC One Radio show that he would be playing at the famed stadium, which has a capacity of 90,000. This will be the ‘Berzerk’ rapper’s first show in London since 2011.
According to reports, Eminem said that the concert at Wembley was only possible because he did not get approval to play at Hyde Park this summer. “The easiest way to get me to do something is to tell me I can’t do it. Thanks to the Royal Parks for making it all possible…for Wembley,” he said.
Reports also state that a new single by the American rapper ‘Headlights’ will be released to coincide with his Wembley concert. The video for the track is said to be directed by Spike Lee, who is known for his film ‘Do the Right Thing’. The track is part of his eight and latest studio album ‘The Marshall Mathers LP 2’, which was released on 5 November.

The rapper last performed in UK in 2013 when he headlined Reading and Leeds. Despite performing in the UK only as a headliner for festivals, Eminem still has a huge fan following. His latest album reached number one on UK charts, making him the first US performer to get seven successive UK number one albums.
Tickets for Eminem’s Wembley concert will be available from 9 am on Friday, 9 May.
