MUMBAI: Mumbai-based electro-pop duo act Hologram 28 is hard at work in the studios with famed sitarist Purbayan Chatterjee on a new collaborative track. This is a bonus track that could be released on the duo’s three-track debut EP ‘Happy Accidents’, said vocalist and one half of the duo Heather Andrews.
“We are recording one extra track with Purbayan Chatterjee playing the guitar. It is a collaborative track, which we might release with ‘Happy Accidents’. We have been looking forward to recording this track for a long time,” said Andrews. She further added that work on the EP itself started in May/June 2014. “I never thought I would be collaborating with Indian classical musicians until I did. So, this has been a real pleasure and quite an experience. It was really random how we got together and started jamming. I played him a tune of mine that I had been developing, and he immediately started jamming to the sound,” said Andrews. She also hinted that another artist that she hopes to work with as part of Hologram 28 is Spud In The Box’s lead vocalist Rohan Rajadhakshya.
On the music of Hologram 28, Andrews said, “The music that we are making has turned out to be quite an amalgamation of the drum and synth sounds of the 80s and 90s with contemporary sounds, all in a new setting. Both of us are pop songwriters, so the tracks are turning out to be very catchy, but with weird contrast and interesting sounds. Just like the hologram has layers, our music too has many layers with interesting contrasts that all together, it sounds very unique.”

Andrews remained tight-lipped when asked about the name and the release date for the collaborative track. However, she did state that the EP would release in the next two months. Andrews said that Hologram 28’s upcoming EP will be released independently and all three tracks would be available for free download. The EP will also be available for streaming on SoundCloud, Bandcamp, and eventually on iTunes.
Along with Andrews, Hologram 28 features Suprateek Chatterjee on guitars and synths.
