‘Ek Onkar’- musical tribute by Sant Sukhwant Singhji and Sucheta Bhattacharjee

MUMBAI: After ‘Love. Bandish. Bliss’, classical and fusion vocalist Sucheta Bhattacharjee has come with a devotional album ‘Ek Onkar’ on Times Music. Along with Bhattacharjee, Sant Sukhwant Singhji has also rendered. This is a musical offering of Shabad Kirtans designed by Rajesh Roy.

Ek Onkar’ was unveiled by Anup Jalota. Also present on the occasion were Bobby Sethi, Nayan Ghosh, Rajesh Roy, Shubh, Manjari Phandis and Linda Arsenio.

The album consist of eight Kirtans. Times Music Sr manager A&R Anindya Banerjee said,“We are glad to associate with Sucheta Bhattacharjee for both her albums. We are also truly privileged to present you Sant Suhwant Singhji, a respectfully followed saint from Punjab. Ek Onkar resonates with our commitment to present you with diverse talents bfrom around the country.”

Speaking with Radioandmusic.com, Sukhwant Singhji said, “Devotional songs now-a-days are sung in filmy style but we have placed Shabad Kirtans in boundaries of raga and tala.”

He added that we will promote it in Gurudwara to make the song more accessible.

Speaking with Radioandmusic.com, singer Anup Jalota said, “Two kinds of music are selling these days ‘Kaata laga’ types and devotional. There is nothing between them sells. And I am hopefully that this devotional collection will also be treasured by many because it purely devotional”

Bhattacharjee said, “I was singing classical music for quite a long. I have been going to Punjab for a while now and so I got inspired to do the song. This is my second project with Times Music. I will continue my work in devotional. I would be doing an album with Anup Jalota and I have few more albums lined up.”
