DRM to showcase technology at NAB 2013

MUMBAI: As the Digital Radio Mondiale developments come to the fore, Nautel will host a special event displaying the technology and network of DRM.

The DRM Consortium event will be hosted by Nautel at NAB on 9 April, at the Nautel booth C2207. With its theme as ‘Building for the 1st Billion Listeners’, the event will showcase presentations by DRM officials and Nautel specialists. It will also offer delegates the opportunity to attain details about the latest developments in DRM and network with the experts.

DRM Consortium chairman Ruxandra Obreja said, “We always enjoy the Nautel events at NAB as they are informative and well attended. This year we have lots to share as the India rollout is gathering momentum. We are also supporting DRM developments in other continents as well, and are keen to share this with the NAB participants interested in AM and VHF broadcasting.”

Some of the recent developments in DRM include deployment of the world’s largest DRM30, currently underway in India. 27 Nautel NX Series DRM-enabled high power medium wave transmitters totaling 4.9 MW of power are being deployed throughout the country as part of All India Radio’s move to digital broadcasting.

Meanwhile, in other parts of the world DRM+ trials are in process. A report on these trials will be presented at the event, which will also feature a live demonstration of DRM+. The NAB 2013 event will be held from 6-11 April at the Las Vegas Convention Center, Nevada.

The conference will also witness a paper on ‘Digital transmission technologies for AM’ by Nautel Regional sales manager Europe Hal Kneller, and representative on the DRM Steering and Executive boards being presented on 8 April as part of the Broadcast Engineering Conference.

Kneller said, “AM broadcasting is facing challenges throughout the world but digital technologies are revitalizing the band. HD Radio Technology and DRM30 can keep this important broadcast band healthy and take advantage of its wide area coverage and low cost of distribution.”

Nautel has emerged as one of the world’s largest manufacturers of broadcast transmitters. With more than 12,000 transmitters deployed in over 177 countries since 1970, Nautel continues to lead the way in providing solutions for digital broadcasting and other applications.
