MUMBAI: With the most significant DRM developments underway in India, the need to educate people on the technology has increased. Aiming towards the same, the DRM Consortium has organized a digital radio seminar to create awareness on the radio standard.
The workshop aims to introduce audiences to the Digital Radio Mondiale standard and outline the activities of the DRM consortium, which is supporting the roll out of this digital platform in India and abroad. It will also witness special presentations being given by officials from All India Radio.
The national broadcaster is amongst the first from India to have already started walking on the digital path, by transitioning to digital broadcasting with the order of around 27 DRM transmitters for its stations.
The new DRM digital radio technology will enable Indian listeners across the country to access more content choice with improved sound quality, along with access to digital features including text news, sports results and automatic emergency alerts in multiple languages.
Apart from that, the seminar will also witness senior speakers from the DRM Consortium based in India and abroad delivering updates about the benefits of DRM for listeners, broadcasters and the Indian radio industry. The speakers will also touch upon business and marketing opportunities related to the digitization of radio in India.
Its aim is to be able to communicate key messages to the Indian population, thus helping the market and the radio listeners prepare for the future digitization of radio in the country.
The workshop will be held on 14 March at the India International Centre, Delhi.
