MUMBAI: A few things in life take time, and sometimes it can be as long as 15 years. Six time Grammy award winner- Dr Dre, revealed during his recent Beats 1 show, that he would soon release a brand new album- ‘Compton: A Soundtrack’. It has taken him a good 15 years to come up with this album, but this ‘better late, than never’ act will bring a huge smile on his fans’ faces, despite Dre shelving his planned ‘Detox’ album yet again.
During his Beats 1 radio show ‘The Pharmacy’ on Saturday, 1 August, 2015, Dr Dre revealed that the new album was inspired by the N.W.A. biopic ‘Straight Outta Compton’. The 2015 Hollywood film details Dre’s rise in the music industry, along with members of one of rap’s most well-known hardcore groups.
‘Compton: A Soundtrack’ will feature Ice Cube, Kendrick Lamar, Eminem, Snoop Dogg, Xzibit and Jill Scott. The album, which comes more than 15 years after Dre’s last album ‘2001’ – released in 1999- will be released as an Apple Music exclusive on 7 August.

The ‘Guilty Conscience’ rapper also spoke about his long impending album ‘Detox’, which he has now scrapped. “The reason ‘Detox’ didn’t come out was because I didn’t like it. I don’t think I did a good enough job, and I couldn’t do that to my fans, and I couldn’t do that to myself, to be perfectly honest with you. I just wasn’t feeling it,” he said.
