MUMBAI: Miley Cyrus’ twerking and on-stage antics may have made her one of the most talked-about musicians of late. However, the Dominican Republic government commission, who is far from impressed with her, is banning her upcoming concert on morality grounds.
In a statement released on Thursday, the country’s commission which overlooks public performances said that the decision had been taken because the singer “undertakes acts that go against morals and customs, which are punishable by Dominican law.”
The concert in question is part of the 21 year old’s Bangerz tour which was scheduled to be held on 13 September in Santo Domingo. Tickets for the show have apparently been on sale since this July, and are priced from $27 to $370.

At this year’s MTV EMAs while accepting an award, Cyrus light up a joint and smoked it on stage, an act which is illegal in the Dominican Republic.
Concert organisers in the Dominican Republic have not yet addressed the ban, nor has anyone from Cyrus’ camp made a comment on it.
On several occasions in the past, the commission has prohibited songs from playing on air, if they have been considered vulgar.
