MUMBAI: Delhi based Bollywood DJ and music producer Sumit Sethi is known for dabbling in mainstream music as well as folk-based electronic music. After the success of the first track of Punjab Project, Neher Waale Pul that featured Sona Mohapatra.
He has been involved with several big Bollywood hits such as Chittiyaan Kalaiyaan (Programmer- Roy), Pink Lips (Hate Story 2), Hangover (Kick), Singham Theme (Singham Returns) and many more. With such an interesting career, Sethi slates a short message on his musical journey. He exclaims, “Music has been great and kind towards me. I did not belong to a musical family. I was not allowed to do music. When I was young music production was my passion. It was this passion that turned into a profession.”
On being asked about his biggest challenge while pursuing his career in music, the DJ told, “I always had this in mind that you need to shut people’s mouth with your own music. DJ’ing is not accepted as a profession in India. People used to think this is a low profile job.”

“Initially they did not support it but then later I started earning and people started knowing me, that’s how I got recognition,” told the DJ when asked about his parent’s reaction when he bagan DJ’ing.
On being asked about his biggest inspiration in the music industry, he told, “Follow your heart, you can’t copy someone. You have to follow your instinct as to what is more important to you.”
He further added on what motivates him, “People expect you to do good, that really motivates me.”
On being asked what advice you would give to all the DJ’s in the country, Sethi told, “Follow your passion. During our time it was difficult.”
“Be professional in life,” is the learning that Sethi received over the years as he mentions it.
Furthermore, Sethi reveals about his upcoming projects, he mentions that there are a few in the pipeline.
