MUMBAI: The British alternative rock band, Dinosaur Pile-Up (DPU), have come to India for the first time as a part of their world tour and have also signed with Times Music to release its sophomore album ‘Nature Nurture’ in India.
Speaking with Radioandmusic.com, Lead vocalist Matt Bigland revealed details about their current India tour and their upcoming third studio album.
Dinosaur Pile-Up released their sophomore album last year in August via Silva Screen Records’ So Recordings. Bigland said that Silva Screen Records’ CEO Reynolds D’Silva wanted to market the band’s music here in India and therefore, got them in touch with Times Music. “Since D’Silva was born in India and spent a chuck of his childhood here, it was important to him, “said Bigland.

The band has been touring throughout 2014. Travelling frequently in the United States, DPU also performed in Europe and Japan, and are ending their world tour with performances around India. Once done touring, the band plans to head back to the UK and straight up get started on the pre-production for their new album next month in a studio and finally start recording in January.
“From our first album ‘Growing Pains’ to ‘Nature Nurture’, we as a band have grown more mature from being a heavy garage band. Now, from the previous album to the new album, it is going to be about who we are right now, how we have grown over the years; as musician and as people; it will be a reflection of the year we spent touring and experiencing and learning on the way. It will be a lot about our live performances,” said Bigland on the new album.
On asked whether they have had the opportunity to hear any Indian music yet, Bigland said that the driver who was driving them around played the local radio stations and “it was an awesome, totally different experience in an interesting way; a cultural experience.”
The band is currently touring India as a part of the NH7 Weekender music festival. They performed at the Pune edition of the festival last week, and will continue to perform at Bangalore and Delhi next weekend.
