Digital radio to reach 59 pc UK homes by 11

MUMBAI: A new Digital Radio Development Bureau research has predicted that Digital Radio Broadcasting (DAB) digital radio will reach 58.5 per cent of UK households within four years. A real push in the growth is predicted when the service can be received on most mobile phones, MP3/MP4 devices. Domestic portable radios and stereos will be the main boost to DAB growth, while DRDB expects significant growth in DAB clock radios.

The study forecasts that by the end of 2007, 21 per cent of households will be listening to DAB, equating to around 6.6 million UK homes. This is expected to rise to 30 per cent by the end of 2008, 40 per cent in 2009 and 50 per cent in 2010.
