MUMBAI: Following his last recorded effort, Delhi-based acoustic guitarist Dhruv Vishvanath aims to release his first full length studio, yet-untitled album around summer. The last record he released was an EP, called ‘Chronicles’ in late 2011. Visvanath also has his own band, called Dhruv Vishvanath Trio, commonly referred to as DVT.
Currently in the last few sessions of recording the album, he told Radioandmusic.com, “This record is going to be big. Musically, it involves my band side and solo side. It has a lot of instrumental music.” Visvanath also added that there will be a total of 14 tracks on the upcoming album. “We hope to have everything done and ready for release sometime around June,” he added. “This record is very different from ‘Chronicles’. This is a nice collective experience; I have doubled in on the acoustic and electronic elements for this new record,” Visvanath explained.

For the new record, Visvanath has been working relentlessly since mid-February, and will continue recording till Mid-April. “Working non-stop in the studio for two months has been an entirely different experience for me,” he added. The theme for this record is outer space. “I love writing about making someone feel grand, when they are feeling low; making someone feel big, empowered and motivated,” Visvanath said. The artwork for the new record will be designed by Prashast Thapan, who also designed the cover art for ‘Chronicles.’
Even though his new record will feature elements from music he writes for his band, Visvanath said, “For the band I like to work on fresh material. I am currently looking at touring. And, I am hoping that through the album, there is a platform where our music can be heard nationally and internationally.”
Professionally trained in classical piano, Visvanath fell in love with the sound of the guitar back in 2004, “21 December 2004 to be exact,” said Visvanath. He aspires to learn more string based instruments such as the violin and the cello.
Although Visvanath writes ambient music, he loves listening to hard rock, metal and alternative pop/rock, by artists such as Porcupine Tree and Foo Fighters.
