BANGALORE: The recent terror attacks in Mumbai have claimed yet another victim in the art and self expression space – the curtain raiser for the Kingfisher–Explocity Festival of Jazz & Blues to be held on Saturday at Bangalore with performances by blues singer, Dana Gillespie, Joachim Palden on the Electric Piano and Enrico Morena on the Drums has been canceled.
Explocity head of events and Promotions M R Jagadeesh told Radioandmusic.com, “We haven’t got permission from the police, hence the curtain raiser has been canceled.”
Dana Gillespie is a Multi-Award winning Blues Diva. She has been touring the world as an ambassador of the risqu?© blues. With over 50 albums to her credit, a self-styled Music Festival in Mustique, support to Bob Dylan, hit shows in London’s West End, at the Edinburgh Festival, and many other Festivals throughout Europe, the Middle East, India, and beyond, Dana is considered truly an International Blues legend by many.
The fate of the Kingfisher–Explocity Jazz & Blues Festival to be held in Bangalore on 12 and 13 December is also uncertain. According to unconfirmed reports from industry sources, Explocity officials will be meeting police officerss on Monday, for permissions. Industry sources add that permissions of events will be withheld until the National Security Guard (NSG) is place in the city. Organisers of events will have to secure police as well as NSG permissions before conducting any show that involves large gatherings, the same sources allege.
