MUMBAI: A Mumbai based NGO has filed a suit against Arbaaz Khan and Abhinav Kashyap in connection with their forthcoming film ‘Dabaang’ for using the word ‘Hindustani’ in an allegedly derogatory manner in an item song.
A session court today has issued notices to both Khan (producer of the film) and Kashyap (director) telling them to file their reply on the suit by September 3.
The song under scanner is an item number titled Munni Badnaam Hui and picturised on Salman Khan and Malaika Arora Khan. The NGO has sought for the “objectionable” word to be deleted and censorship certificate granted to the film, which is slated for release on September 10, be cancelled.

Meanwhile, production house Aashtavinayak Films in their reply to the suit today said there was nothing derogatory in the usage of the word ‘Hindustani’ in the item song.
While talking to Radioandmusic.com, composer of the song Lalit Pandit said, “There is nothing wrong in using the word Hindustani. It’s a fun song shot in an earthy, rustic atmosphere. It should be taken in the right spirit without making such hue and cry about it.”
