MUMBAI: There are always hopes, expectations and desires attached to a reality show and every contestant walks on to that ‘Stage’ with a bagful of these emotions. But, not all emotions culminate into a beautiful on ‘Stage’ story. A few witness setbacks, some disappointment while a rare lot seeks inspiration in failure. Charu Bakshi, the first eliminated contestant of Colors Infinity’s ‘The Stage 2’ belongs to this last category.
A hairstylist by profession, someone who seeks inspiration in everything that she comes across, is looking at the silver lining at the end of the tunnel post her elimination. Bakshi who got eliminated from the stage today gets back home with a determined mind. Her music, limited to her bathroom and friend circle thus far, will now see more, courtesy her stint on ‘The Stage’.

“The Stage has got my passion for singing back and I just hope it’s not too late to being,” says Bakshi who learnt about her singing ability in class four, but then went on to become a hairstylist. “I will be coming up with a band of my own now. I am in talks with a friend who stays in Kerala. We have started recording songs,” reveals the ambitious singer.
Though the elimination has just made her love for music and her determination to pursue it as a profession stronger, the early exit did hurt. “Had a tough song this week and I chose it because I wanted to outdo my last performance. But, it did not go well.”
The comments from the judges too reached her heart like an arrow from a bow. After all, ‘The Stage’ judges follow the ‘no beating around the bush’ policy. “The only green light that I got was from Monica Dogra. She came backstage and asked me about my performance. In fact, she also gave me a few tips before the performance. Thus, she was extremely happy to see my performance. She also told me that I used her tips,” avers the stylist.
Bakshi who understands the shortcomings of English singing in a nation dominated by Bollywood music says, “I am not worried about the scope for I want to sing for me first. ‘The Stage’ is a huge step in this direction and it’s great. I am really thankful to them for promoting songs that were earlier limited to bathrooms and karaoke. These efforts change the mindset.”
Lastly, on staying connected with the judges she avers that she wouldn’t want to trouble them. “I am Facebook friends with Monica Dogra so, I might get her views and suggestions when I upload my music videos. But, I wouldn’t want to ping and trouble anyone. They are all great people, I am a huge fan of Vishal Dadlani’s work, Ehsaan (Noorani) makes great compositions and Devaraj (Sanyal) is a rockstar.”
Now, that’s what we call the right attitude. Way to go girl!
