MUMBAI: Coldplay frontman Chris Martin and his Hollywood actress wife Gwyneth Paltrow have decided to go separate ways, after being married for more than ten years. The announcement of the split came via a blog post by the 41 year old actress, on the website Goop.com. According to reports, minutes after the message was published, the surge in traffic to the website caused it to crash.
Signed by both, Martin and Paltrow, the post is titled ‘Conscious Uncoupling’. The joint statement reads, “It is with hearts full of sadness that we have decided to separate. We have been working hard for well over a year, some of it together, some of it separated, to see what might have been possible between us, and we have come to the conclusion that while we love each other very much we will remain separate. We are, however, and always will be a family, and in many ways we are closer than we have ever been. We are parents first and foremost, to two incredibly wonderful children and we ask for their and our space and privacy to be respected at this difficult time. We have always conducted our relationship privately, and we hope that as we consciously uncouple and coparent, we will be able to continue in the same manner.”
Reports state that a spokesperson for the Coldplay singer has confirmed the split. Martin, 37, met the Oscar winning actress in October 2002, after the release of Coldplay’s second album ‘A Rush of Blood to the Head’. The two got married in December 2003 and have two children together. Below the statement is also an essay by Dr Habib Sadeghi and Dr Sherry Sami on marriage and divorce, titled ‘On Conscious Uncoupling’.

In the past, the couple was often talked about for not being seen together more often in public. And in an interview last summer, Paltrow admitted that being married was hard.
Currently, Martin is working with his band- Coldplay, on releasing their sixth studio album ‘Ghost Stories’. He will also be appearing on the singing competition ‘The Voice’ as a mentor to the contestants.
Meanwhile, Paltrow recently appeared on Fox’s hit musical/ comedy ‘Glee’ as her character ‘Holly Holiday’, to celebrate the show’s two-part 100th episode.
