MUMBAI: Muthoot Group’ s Chennai Live, a locally-involved FM radio station that plays English Music completes two years and has launched a radio reality show â€?Band Hunt’ to celebrate the success.
â€?Band Hunt’ is a show that will identify and promote new talent in the city. Aspiring western music groups/bands from the city will compete to win the coveted prize of Rs One million along with an opportunity to cut a music album of their own.

Our single-minded focus on not succumbing to the herd of music stations has really paid off well and resonated with Chennaites. Chennai Live FM has always believed in taking the road less travelled and doing things which connect with the city – be it our Talk radio format which is focused on providing interesting discussions, interviews and debates. Band Hunt is another endeavour by our radio station to identify and promote hidden talent in the city,… revealed Muthoot Broadcasting Pvt Ltd. COO Prem Kumar.
The event kicked off on 13 August and the short listed entrants will perform before a panel of eminent judges in the first week of September
Five teams out of these will be chosen to perform in the finals. The selected finalists will then perform live on radio so that the listeners can familiarize themselves with the bands. The grand finale will be held on 19 September
Registrations can be done via phone, email, SMS, online (www.galatta.com), at kiosks in malls and in person at the studio apart from the Mobile Canters at Colleges and Corporate houses. Groups can also register with their tracks on a CD. The closing date for registrations is 29 August.
The event will be covered on air for two hours everyday – until the grand finale. Each of the episodes will cover the journey of various bands until they reach the finals. Listeners will also be given an opportunity to interact with the band
