MUMBAI: Singer Carrie Underwood the winner of American Idol season four, has been declared as the top-earning ex-American Idol contestant by Forbes magazine.
According to Forbes, Carrie has earned an estimated $20 million between May 2010 and May 2011. The said sum is equivalent to five most successful Idol alumni combined.
The singer who won five Grammy awards became an instant Broadway star after the release of her two albums which was ranked as hot seller of the year and certified as platinum album. Carrie made her feature film debut with Soul Surfer in 2010.
Adam Lambert and Chris Daughtry are tied for the second position on the list with the estimated earning of $6 million. The other successful idol alumni includes season three winner Fantasia Barrino with $4 million; one of the show’s youngest winners, Jordin Sparks, with $3 million; and Kelly Clarkson with $2.5 million.
The report also indicates that Idol host Ryan Seacrest earned $61 million which is the highest sum compare to the combined incomes of the 10 Idol stars.
