Capitol Music Group appoints Robbie McIntosh as EVP international

MUMBAI: Capitol Music Group has appointed Robbie McIntosh as the executive vice president international. The announcement was made by chairman and CEO Steve Barnett.

In his new role, McIntosh will serve as a senior member of Barnett’s executive team, working closely with CMG label heads, artists and their management to ensure an innovative and collaborative approach in creating and overseeing strategic marketing and promotion plans for CMG artists globally. He will be based in the company’s iconic Capitol Tower at Hollywood.

Commenting on the appointment, Barnett said, “I have had the great pleasure of working with McIntosh for many years, and his well-rounded experience, acumen and demeanor make him the ideal person to head international for the Capitol Music Group and serve as a senior executive at the company. All of us at Capitol congratulate him, welcome him to Hollywood, and look forward to his leadership in bringing our artists and their music to the worldwide marketplace.”

He will also work in concert with the company’s affiliates to create and implement long-term plans with each territory, and seek out new opportunities within the global business to further enhance marketing and promotion efforts. McIntosh will also develop and maintain solid relationships with International media and other strategic partners to the benefit of CMG artistes.

Prior to this appointment, McIntosh owned and ran RMC International, a global strategy, marketing and artist management company whose clients included AC/DC, Peter Gabriel, Sade and Gossip.

McIntosh has a vast working experience at Sony Music joining as head of alternative sales and marketing for Sony Music UK in 1993. He took on the role of director of regional promotions in 1995 and rose to director, national promotions for Columbia Records UK in 1997.

In 2004, he became senior vice-president, international marketing for Sony/BMG UK, taking on the additional role of senior vice president, global marketing for Sony/BMG Europe. In these senior executive positions, McIntosh was responsible for creating and managing worldwide marketing campaigns for all of the company’s UK-signed artists, and heading front-line artist marketing for Continental Europe. During this period, he worked with artistes like Celine Dion, George Michael, Annie Lennox, Oasis, Foo Fighters and Ozzy Osbourne.
