MUMBAI: Scottish EDM DJ and producer Calvin Harris, has for the second consecutive year, topped Forbes’ list of ‘Electronic Cash Kings’. Bagging the title of the highest paid DJ in the world, the 30 year old has estimated earnings of $66 million. The total is a whopping $20 million more than his last year’s tally of $46 million, no doubt due to the Las Vegas residency and Coachella gigs he performed at in 2014.
However, the humble DJ attributes his fortunes to fate saying, “The rise of dance music has been astronomical in the last three years,” he said. “I happened to be in the right place at the right time.”Coming in second place on the list is French DJ David Guetta with less than half of Harris’ total- $30 million. Dutch producer and DJ Tiesto, moves one place down the order this year to number three, and ties with Swedish EDM DJ Avicii, both earning a total of $28 million. In fifth place with a total of $23 million is cake throwing, Japanese-American DJ Steve Aoki.
Rounding up the top 10 highest paid EDM DJs is Dutch DJ and music producer Afrojack ($22 million) in sixth place, 24 year old Russian-German DJ Zedd places seventh ($21 million), American DJ Kaskade in eight ($17 million), followed by 26 year old Skrillex ($16.5 million) and in tenth place Canadian DJ and producer Deadmau5 ($16 million).
