MUMBAI: “Due to border issues, concern with respect to security arises but music tends to break the barriers,” says Pakistani rock band ‘Roxen’ lead vocalist Mustafa Zahid.
He highlights that new generation has got lot more to love than fight about and music can be used to bridge the gap. Roxen band has composed music for Vishesh Bhatt’s upcoming film Murder 3. He adds, “It becomes difficult to travel back and forth, but I believe musicians’ are beyond all the visa and security issues. I work in Bollywood as it exposes me to new genre of music. There are brilliant film directors who guide you to do something new and afresh.”
The band consists of Zahid (vocalist), Haider Halim (lead guitars, backing vocals and compositions) and Shahan Khan (guitar). Zahid has sung ‘Hum Jee Lenge’ in Murder 3. He says, “It’s a song that I had composed long time back and has now become the essence of the film. I composed it when I was in a phase of my life and it was for some one. But it was incomplete until recently when Vishesh (Bhatt) heard the song in a private gathering and asked me to complete the song.”

He adds, “In spite Vishesh asking me to complete the song I was still reluctant but after meeting with Bhatt Saheb (Mahesh Bhatt); he presented it in a way that I did it.” Roxen entered the Bhatt camp with Awarapan in 2007 and the band’s association got stronger after Runaway (2009) and Blood Money (2012).
He says, “For me this song is a break up song but Bhatt Saheb explained how things don’t end in your life if you don’t find someone or you lose someone. Your life moves on and that is the message we are trying to give out with the song. The song is really close to me. I thought I will not finish the song and I will leave without it. But the best part of the song was I had left it because I was guilty but I have been able to remove the guilt after I completed the song.”
The soundtrack of the film is composed by Pritam and Roxen (band) while the lyrics are penned by Sayeed Quadri. The audio will be released by Sony Music India and Shafqat Amanat Ali, KK and Nikhil D’Souza have rendered for the music album. Murder 3 is slated to release on 15 February. The film features Randeep Hooda, Sara Loren and Aditi Rao Hydari in lead roles.
