MUMBAI: Bollywood tunes will be played at the historic Thames Diamond Jubilee Pageant on 3 June in London, celebrating 60 years of service of The Queen of United Kingdom (UK) Elizabeth II.
Shree Muktajeevan Pipe Band and Dhol Ensemble, including 50 musicians from the band and academy will play the Bollywood anthems and traditional Indian melodies at the Pageant.
Welcoming the inclusion of traditional Indian melodies in this grand Pageant, Hindu statesman Rajan Zed, in a statement in Nevada (USA) today, pointed out that it was a “step in the right direction” in view of increasingly diverse demographics of UK.

Highlighting varied musical genres like rock, pop, classical and musical theatre, the event will also feature classics and collaborative tributes from musicians like Shirley Bassey, Elton John, Tom Jones, Paul McCartney, Stevie Wonder, Kylie Minogue, Jools Holland, Jessie J, JLS, Annie Lennox, Madness, Cliff Richard, Ed Sheeran and West End star Alfie Boe.
The pageant will also include 11km long flotilla on Thames River, music chamber choir, 20,000 participants on the water with 1,000 vessels and 50 viewing screens. The London Philharmonic Orchestra will also perform a piece on the theme music of James Bond films.
Thames Diamond Jubilee pageant will air on BBC world wide entertainment channels. The show will also premiere three-part documentary series ‘Diamond Queen’ which will offer a sneek peek into Queen Elizabeth II’s life and reign. It will include remarkable archive footage and exclusive interviews with world leaders and members of the Royal Family including Prince William and Prince Harry.
