MUMBAI: Following in the footsteps of Beyonce and U2, iconic alt-rock singer Bjork has released a brand new album ‘Vulnicura’ two months before the original release date. The Icelandic born singer/songwriter put out the album on iTunes just one week after announcing it through a handwritten note. It seems the album leak over the weekend was behind the album’s early release.
The 49-year old artist took to her Facebook page to announce the album, where she also included an open letter about its making. Six tracks on the “heartbreak album” have been written by Bjork, while two others have been co-written with Acra, who is a producer on Kanye West’s 2013 release ‘Yeezus’ and FKA Twigs’ 2014 album LP1, and another with Spaces.
‘Vulnicura’ is Bjork’s first album since her 2011’s release ‘Biophilia’, which included a series of interactive apps. Last year, the apps were the first to be inducted into the Museum of Modern Art.

As per original plans, the album’s vinyl and CD versions will be released later, in March on an undisclosed date.
Bjork has announced six ‘Vulnicura’ tour dates; however, they are all in New York. The first two shows take place on 7 and 14 March at Carnegie Hall, after which the next four are scheduled for 25 and 28 March, and 1 and 4 April 2015, all at the City Centre. She will also be performing at the Governor’s Ball in June.
