MUMBAI: If there is any singer who can make his fans rock and cry at the same time, that is only KK. If Shah Rukh Khan is the King of romance, KK is the King of melody.
The reclusive singer has been a people’s favourite in spite of his distance from media. He has also managed to gather a million eyeballs through his voice.

Krishnakumar Kunnath (KK) married to his childhood sweetheart Jyothi Krishna in 1991. It has been 25 years since the couple is happily involved in the wedlock.
Apart from Bollywood songs, KK has lent his voice to almost 3000 jingles. In fact, it was with jingles he started off his career.
KK made his entry into Bollywood singing a small part of the song ‘Chod Aaye Hum’ in the 1996 film ‘Maachis’. His big break came with the song ‘Tadap Tadap Ke Is Dil’ in the 1999 movie ‘Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam’.
In the same year, KK broadened his horizons through the release of his debut solo album ‘Pal’, with music by Leslie Lewis and lyrics by Mehboob; released by Sony Music.
He might have crooned a hundred chartbusters in his soulful voice but KK has not been very lucky with awards. In his long career of almost two decades, KK has won only one award, which was a Screen Award he received in 2008 for ‘Khuda Jaane’ from ‘Bachna Ae Haseeno’.
After graduating from Kirori Mal College, Delhi University in commerce. KK had a brief stint of eight months as a marketing executive in the hotel industry. After few years, in 1994, he moved to Mumbai.
On a show, KK admitted that his songs are more popular than him in the audience. He further revealed that during his shows, 90 per cent of the times, people don’t know him before they see him onstage and after the shows come to an end, people shockingly ask him if he was the real voice behind the songs he just performed.
KK has never undergone any formal training in music. KK has a sweet soft-pitched soulful fresh and melodious voice, he can sing any type of songs, either high-pitched or low-pitched.
