MUMBAI: Author, singer, mimicry artist and comparer Bipin R Pandit is all set to celebrate 10 years of its musical group Khumaar on 2 July 2016. The group that consists of 18 members is versatile enough to render songs of any singer. Besides this, they also sing songs in Marathi, Gujarat, Punjabi, Bengali, Rajasthani and South Indian languages. In the past, this band has renders hit Hindi musical songs basically of yesteryears sung by stalwarts like Rafi, Kishore, Mukesh, Asha, Hemant Kumar and Mana De.
The tenth anniversary will be celebrated with a concert at Manik Sabhagraha, Bandra, Mumbai. The concert will include solos, duets, classical, qawwalis and songs of unsung heroes. Unlike the other years, a special segment will be devoted to Khumaar Ki Khoj. “Under this, we will identify a young artist/talent and offer our platform to him or her to perform. If he or she goes on to become a big star I will be the happiest person,” said Pandit. Overall it will be a three-hour show.
Pandit further added, “I thank God for having given me the opportunity to associate with the best of the groups like Babla, Beatles, Gunjan, Jhankar, Star Nite, Golden Beats and Lovely Star.”

Khumaar was launched in 2006 precisely a decade back. Back then the idea was to invite all music lovers from the advertising, marketing, media, PR and communications fraternity for Pandit and his group. “We wanted to engage and entertain them with quality entertainment that would provide them the much-needed relaxation from their punishing schedules. This thought and its execution is very well appreciated by the fraternity,” averred the singer.
Since the last 10 years, Khumaar has become a brand. Their last show held on 26 September 2015 at the Manik Sabhagraha, Bandra, Mumbai was attended by 600 people.
Over the years, luminaries who have graced Khumaar are Pyarelalji, Pandit Suresh Wadkar, Roop Kumar Rathod, Sonali Rathod, Pradeep Guha, Ramesh Narayan, Prasoon Joshi, Bhaskar Das, Shashi Sinha, Ajay Kakar, Ajay Chandwani, Anurag Batra, Subhash Kamath, M. G. Parameswaran, Pratap Bose, Sunil Lulla, Bharat Dabholkar, Nagesh Alai, Avinash Kaul and Pranesh Misra.
