MUMBAI: Big FM`s digital business division Big Digital has kickstarted its activities with the Bangalore station beginning podcast of its shows.Big Bangalore has become the first radio station in the country podcast on-air shows on its website www.big927fm.com . The idea is to get Kannadigas from anywhere in the world to listen to radio jockeys, songs, and content ranging from interviews with Sandalwood Stars, jokes, and updates on the latest city happenings. Music does not form part of the content, as of now.
The audio files can be downloaded for playing on the computer or downloadin on Ipods using iTunes.
Says Big`s Bangalore station head Kamal Mohandas, “Only the best of the programming and highlights will be showcased on the podcast. We have already started advertising it in print media and on air, and are also relying on word of mouth to spread the message to those staying overseas.”
The Bangalore station recently completed a year of operations. The Big network of FM stations envisages a total of 45 stations throughout the country by December 2007. Currently, 33 stations are operational. Podcasting will be taken up in phases by the other stations shortly, says Mohandas.
