MUMBAI: “I have taken a brave and a very exciting leap with Paagal that comes from my heart with the intent of pushing language barriers for the Indian music scene. I can only imagine people from across the globe dance to this international tune with an Indian twist,” exclaims Badshah, but we aren’t impressed at all this time! The song has failed to charm us and we aren’t ‘Paagal’ at all over it!

The track is Badshah’s ode to the girl he has his eyes on, where he calls her crazy gorgeous! But, what about the language used? Playboy 2019 muse, Rose Romero has debuted on the Indian music scene with this video, but to be honest, the background dancers have outsmarted her charm. Now, having Puerto Rican Director Marlon Pena (the man behind the latest hit Con Calma vision and choreographer Greg Chapkis, did add to some big names, and of course the dancers crew from LA is remarkable. But, don’t you think it’s time that musicians and production houses realise that we audiences are not foolish! Packaging a basic, cool song in a stylish music video would surely attract Badshah’s fans once or twice, just for the mere love, they have for the rapper, but the song lacks potential to be on loop!
Composed and written by him, Paagal is an all-out rhythmic-reggaetón-pop banger and we appreciate his efforts to try something different. And, yes, those iconic locations, where the music video has been shot, add to its colour, but what about the lyrics? It’s true that the local language has a youth connect, but aren’t you promoting the use of vulgar language for women? Also, the music is too dull to buzz on the ears of music goers, whose expectations from the rapper are quite high!
To sum up, Badshah’s Paagal is indeed a dull attempt by him and a very good example of commercial music that lacks melody and true essence.
