MUMBAI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has always spoken about cleaning rivers in India particularly Ganga, which has encouraged BIG FM’s RJ Sid. The RJ is all set to go forward with their plan to make the city of Kanpur and river Ganga a better place to live.
On the World Environment day, BIG FM launched a campaign ‘Chhora Ganga Kinare Wala’ will end on 15 June. The ten day long aimed at creating awareness about the need to clean up the ninth polluted city of the world. “On the day one of the campaign itself, we got good response from our listeners and the visitors visiting the Ganga Ghat,” said the RJ. The booth for live broadcast was set-up near the 500-year old temple. “It was exactly the space where there was lot of waste lying and we did a show live from that location,” he further added. The activities at the Ghat included cleaning the place by the listeners and environment lovers, interviews of authorities and religious heads and conversation with visitors to create awareness. The campaign aims to bring together the religious bodies and authorities and take the issue of cleanliness seriously.
“When the campaign was in the planning phase, we heard that Modi is planning to have special team which would clean the river. This has added more credibility and importance to our campaign,” said RJ Sid. He also said that this helped them add a few more ideas for the campaign.

Sid started his journey with BIG FM three years back, and started hosting the morning show. “My vision is to make the town clean and make it a better place to live. I will continue all my efforts for the same,” said the former banker. Before the morning show with BIG FM, he was hosting one hour show with the same station. “This has been my favourite job so far in my life. I was into Banking sector for five years and also at the same time enjoyed hosting shows. People who heard my voice suggested me to join Radio and finally I did. This job makes me happy at the same time requires you to be responsible.” He takes pride of the fact that despite not studying mass communication, he made it to this position.
Talking about his morning show Sid said, “It was first January and the morning show Jockey decided to call it quits and that is when the management approached me. Without any hesitations, I agreed but then I knew it was a big responsibility as it includes news and views and the equal balance of many other factors which are the essentials of the morning show,” he concluded.
