MUMBAI: Saareyan nu Baisakhi diyan lakh-lakh wadhaiyan… (Best wishes to all on the occasion of Baisakhi). The wishes kept pouring in from well known personalities from the music and entertainment industry and listeners of 92.7 BIG FM Delhi, as the station brought in the New Year in true Punjabi style. And in keeping with the festive mood, BIG FM roped in popular Punjabi singer Shankar Sahney to entertain its listeners at one of the housing societies in Punjabi Bagh, which is one of Delhi’s oldest Punjabi bastions.
The listeners, with parandis and pags et al and looking every bit festive, enjoyed the evening, interacting with event presenter RJ Aparshakti, playing games, winning gifts and dancing to beats of the dhol and the Punjabi folk songs sung by Shankar Sahney.
BIG FM wove special on-air content around the Punjabi theme with serene verses from the holy Gurbani playing in the morning. The station also roped in prominent personalities from the Gurudwara Prabandhak Committee, singers like Jagjeet Singh, Hans Raj Hans, Daler Mehndi, Jassi, Mika, Ashok Masti, Jaspinder Narula, Hard Kaur, and actors like Jaspal Bhatti and Divya Datta who wished fans with warmth on the auspicious occasion.
