MUMBAI: Big FM has completed the launch of its 45th station with the start of operations in Shimla, Himachal Pradesh. The station has hit airwaves from today, 10th July.
The station was launched by Chief Minister of the state, Prem Kumar Dhumal.
The Shimla station is expected to reach out to almost one million people in Himachal Pradesh,… says Big FM regional director north Siddharth Bhardwaj.

The station would initially hit the airwaves for 17 hours. We would evaluate the response of the people in the area and then later make it a 24 hours station,… says Bhardwaj.
RJ’s hosting the shows will hail from Shimla hence giving it a local flavour. The station has lined up an array of shows for its listeners. The station will hit the airwaves at 6 am with â€?Saher’ which will air an hour of devotional music. RJ Shalini will host the breakfast show â€?Big Chai’ from 7am to 11am. Listeners can relish the music of their choice on â€?Aapki Khatir’ from 11am to 12am. The afternoon slot will be filled by RJ Satya with ‘Big Geri’. Evening drive time will be hosted by RJ Pankaj with â€?Citii Bajaa Ke’. RJ Sophie will host â€?9 Bajee Ki Setting’ from 9pm to 11pm
The music flow of the station will include Bollywood music interspersed with local pahadi music. The station will pump in atleast two local pahadi songs every two hours,… says Bhardwaj
Big FM had acquired the license for 45 stations in the second phase of bidding. We had received the license for 45 stations. 44 stations were set up in 18 months time. Setting up Shimla station took sometime because of certain logistics issues…. Big FM had started its operations in September 2006 with the launch of Delhi and Hyderabad stations.
