MUMBAI: In an initiative to empower the listeners, Big FM Chennai is hosting the â€?Mooduketha Mix Music Awards’ for the Tamil music industry.
The station which claims it is the only station to have a music positioning spread across different day parts, would be awarding songs according to specific day parts.
The programming at the station is essentially divided in five day parts, Kalakkal Kaalai (energized mornings) giving out top news, utility information from 7 am – 11 am, Time Pass Neram featuring chatty shows, health and cosmo tips from 11am-3pm, Jil Jil Neram (Chillax hours) playing lively songs, contests from 3 pm-6 pm. The evening starts with Recharge Chennai from 6 pm – 9 pm playing high tempo songs for the drive time and â€?Love you da’ slots playing romantic songs only by music composers Ilayraja and A R Rahman.

The station would shortlist five songs in each category and the listeners would further vote for their facoraite songs across the five categories. Says Big FM Tamil Nadu cluster director P B Ramaswamy, As we have positioned and tailor made our content according to the day parts of the listeners and catering to their needs, we would be rewarding the top 5 rotates of 2008 across categories voted by them. The music played on the station is according to the listener preference and the awards too will be decided by them….
The station started the on-ground promotional activity about three to five weeks ago and would be initiating the voting process from Wednesday. Big FM RJs will travel a particular area everyday in branded Big FM buses and the listeners can board in and cast vote in the ballot boxes. Listeners can also cast their votes via SMS across different categories. Beginning 22 April, the final awards will be given on air on 1 May 2009. The awards will be given out by the listeners themselves to the musicians, singers or actors picturised in the song.
Being present on-ground every day in particular area benefits the station in the brand building process. On-ground activities do help us to gain visibility among the listeners and create better connectivity. Our RJs interact with listeners on ground and this further helps to increase and strengthen our listenership base…. All the Big FM jocks, Dheena, Sangeetha, Imsai Arasi, Bosskey and Sumitha will be on ground each day covering markets, bus stops, stall in a particular area.
The on air celebrations promise will include RJs and celebrity reactions to the nominations, celebrities campaigning for votes, students of the nominees coming on air to campaign for their gurus and much more. Each week will see new categories being unveiled and offered to listeners for voting. Interesting trivia on the song will be shared with listeners which will ensure highest levels of entertainment on air.
