MUMBAI: Celebrating 82 years of Tamil music, Big FM has announced ‘Big Tamil Melody Awards 2012’ that will honour and applaud singers and musicians.
Renowned singer and actor SP Balasubramanian is the face of the awards this year. Acclaimed music directors Bharathwaj & James Vasanthan along with versatile singer Unnikrishnan will be the jury members. 15 popular categories will be nominated by the jury and thereafter decided by listeners through voting, while one award will be conferred by the jury directly, summing to 16 awards in total.
The radio station has initiated a campaign ‘Big Karaoke Station’ for listeners, who can nominate their musicians of the year not just by vote, but by singing this year’s super hit songs. Listeners can sing along with the top singers and music directors and the top 5, selected both on-air and on-ground, will get an opportunity to be mentored by the nominee musicians of the year for the music awards. The winner will sing along with the mentors at the Big FM Studio.
