MUMBAI: Goafest 2010 slated to commence on 8 April is around the corner and the creative teams from the advertising and radio industry have held their breathe to grab Media Abbys. They wait is going to be shorter as the shortlisted entries would be out tomorrow or Monday
To lighten the anxiety in the air, Radioandmusic.com spoke to BBDO India chairman and chief creative officer Josy Paul who has been appointed as the Jury Chairman for the radio category for this year’s Creative Abby Awards. Paul shared his thoughts on the jury composition, benchmarks and theme of the awards this year.
Relates Paul, The brief given to the jury members was extremely meticulous and dictated focus on freshness, originality and celebrating best creative in Indian advertising. Abby is celebration of Indian advertising and there is no reason to compare the Indian creatives with the outer world….
Paul believes the benchmarks for shortlisting radio creatives are high this year. The jury members for radio include experienced reputed panel and the benchmarks set is obviously high. The judging is still in process and the short listed creatives might come out tomorrow or Monday….
Describing the process of selecting the entries, Paul elaborates, After the initial shortlisting of the creatives, the jury members work backwards to see if the creatives really deserve. In the next stage, finalists are zeroed for the gold, silver and bronze awards after discussions and revisiting the shortlisted entries…
The Jury Chairman acts as a facilitator encouraging and creating perspective during the selection process. Jury Chairman has to be critical and analytical of the shortlisted entries and make decisions keeping the audiences in mind. He has to pinpoint areas where the medium is lacking and facilitate growth of the sector….
Paul signs off saying creative pieces shine inspite of volumes across the years and this year, the radio creatives are innovative, interactive and agencies are exploring the medium in a better way….
The Media Abby entries in the radio category came out this week and has seven shortlisted entries competing in the â€?Best use of radio’ category
