MUMBAI: A decade and a half later often troubled pop star Britney Spears’ debut single ‘Baby One More Time’ has been voted as the best debut single in the last 20 years.
A poll conducted by UK based e-magazine Amazepop gave ‘Baby’ the thumbs up over second spot ‘Bring It All Back’ by S Club 7 and third placed ‘Sweet Dreams my LA ex’ by Rachael Stevens.
Baby One More Time single sold 5, 00,000 copies on the first day of release and spent two weeks at the top of Billboards chart. It went on to sell 10 million copies topping the chart in 15 countries.

The provocative video, which was initially slated to be animated but on Spears’ insistence it was modeled along a Catholic schoolgirl (played by Spears) complete with starch white blouse and a short pleated skirt.
The album of the same name has sold over 30 million copies till date- the best ever debut album by any artist. Over 9,000 music fans participated in the poll.
