MUMBAI: The ‘Tum Hi Ho’ singer Arijit Singh is the latest victim of extortion from the underworld. Singh has been receiving threatening calls for exhortation of Rs 5 crore from gangster Ravi Pujari.
Confirming the news on social media, Singh said that the news was indeed true. However, he has asked the media to respect his sentiments and not bother him constantly.

According to several reports, Pujari called up his manager Tarsame Mittal, who filed a complaint with the Oshiwara Police Station in Mumbai. However, the singer refused to file a complaint and has not demanded any police protection.
Confirming the same to Radioandmusic.com, Senior Police Inspector Subhash Khanvilkar from the Oshiwara police station said, “We had got information from them and Arijit Singh does not wish to file a complaint and has not even asked for police protection. Nonetheless, we have made a diary entry of the information he had given.”
According to a report in Mumbai Mirror, Pujari called up Mittal, who manages his work. Mittal informed Singh about the calls and the former filed a police complaint. The reports further stated that Singh will be touring the US in September and the organiser for the same is Nattubhai, who keeps on getting requests for extra shows. One of the promoters kept bargaining a lot and his team decided to not go ahead with them. The promoter allegedly had connections with Pujari, who eventually called up Mittal. The singer clarified that he did not speak to Pujari directly. It is also reported that the gangster demanded Rs 5 crore from the singer but Singh said he does not have so much money. This was when Pujari asked Singh to do a couple of shows for no cost.
Singh was quoted as saying that he does not mind doing a couple of extra shows, but does not prefer to get manipulated. His US tour will commence from 12 September and he will perform at various cities including, Orlando, Los Angeles and Houston.
