MUMBAI: Atkan-Chatkan, a film that revolves around a child Guddu ,and his quest for becoming a true musician, has been beautifully written and directed by Shiv Hare. AR Rahman, who presented the film and launched the trailer on Twitter recently, was approached to play the elder version of lead role, “Guddu” in the film.
Writer-director of the film, Shiv Hare said, “AR Rahman Sir is a musical genius. I had approached him to play the lead role in the film because the film revolves around music and besides him no one could do justice to the character. Also, Rahman Sir’s face matched exactly with Lydian who played the younger Guddu. Rahman Sir loved the script but he wasn’t really comfortable acting in the film. He had already debuted in a film before, and he was not comfortable doing again. However, he loved the concept and story of the film and immediately agreed to become presenter of the film.”
The songs of Atkan Chatkan have been sung by the likes of Amitabh Bachchan, Hariharan, Sonu Nigam and others. Atkan Chatkan, introduces the world renowned child prodigy Lydian Nadhaswaram, also starring Aayesha Vindhara, Sachin Chaudhary, Yash Rane and Tamanna Dipak, will premiere on September 5 on ZEE5.

Commenting on the music, which is the soul of the film, Shiv Hare said, “I have written some beautiful songs in the film. Some are poems that originated from the world renowned poet Rashtrakavi Maithili Sharan Gupt, who belonged to Chirgaon Jhansi. Music has been given by the most popular and highly talented percussionist Shivamani Sir. This is his debut film for contributing to Hindi film music. And last but not the least, the legendary Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan will also tweet about the music and lyrics of the song soon. We have some interesting songs in the film, just like the Movie Ankush’s remembered for its amazing song, Itni shakti humein dena data , we have conceptualised a beautiful song and hopefully it will be remembered for a long time. Similarly, there are very few songs that come to the mind on Maa. After Taare Zameen Par, I think our song on Maa that revolves around a child’s longing and feeling lonely without his mother , will also get attention.
