MUMBAI: After 15 long years, Oscar winning music composer AR Rahman launched a single titled ‘Infinite Love’ on 20 December in Mumbai.
Rahman’s last non-film work was patriotic album ‘Vande Mataram’ in 1997. Different world conflicts was the main reason to come up with the single giving out social message of borderless world. Conceived as a song from India to the world, the maestro has envisioned a future scenario where borders are dissolved and the emotion of love reigns supreme. Written originally in English, the song has Hindi version also, which is penned down by Irshad Kamil. Rahman, Blaaze and Gil Levy have penned the English version of the solo.
It took two years for the project to complete from the actual idea to product. It exemplifies how love can dissolve boundaries, bring people together and promote a sense of global peace and brotherhood. Reliance Foundation chairperson Nita Ambani has joined hands with Rahman in promoting the message of love and global brotherhood.
Rahman travelled to four countries ie Jamaica, Hongkong, United States and India to film the video that was supported immensely by Reliance Foundation, The music video is directed by Paul Boyd.
Maestro Rahman said, “Infinite love has been evolved keeping a global audience in mind. I always wanted to know the perspectives which drive the way people live their lives. I recollect a story about an elephant that wanders into a village of the blind. Each person touches a different part of the elephant, the trunk, the tail, the tusk, and each one thinks this is what the elephant is. I am like the blind person. I want to see the entire picture with all of you, and no better way to do it than involving everyone in giving it shape. I would like to extend my deepest gratitude to Mr Mukesh Ambani and Mrs Nita Ambani for their untiring support towards the project”
Reliance foundation chairperson Nita Ambani said, “ We are delighted to be partnering with Rahman to spread message of ‘Infinite Love’. This is our gift to the world, and we are proud to be involved in this initiative. We are looking forward to a lot of great things that can come out of this partnership.”
Speaking with Radioandmusic.com about the hindi version, Irshad Kamil said, “I have kept the word ‘Infinite love’ but rest is in same lines with idea but completely different lyrics.”
