MUMBAI: The Emperor of Bhajans, Anup Jalota started his musical career as a chorus singer in All India Radio and today he is a renowned Indian singer and musician, best known for his bhajans and gazals, an Urdu form of poetry.
Talking about his upcoming projects, Jalota said, I am coming up with a set of eight Bhajans which are duets sung by me and Nandita Basu. The audio of the album will be on EMI music…
Jalota who can sing in eight different languages also revealed that the album will be released by Talat Aziz in mid August.
The maestro is usually backed by a team of musicians which consists of santoor, dholak, sarod, sarangi, sitara and tabla players along with a violinist and a guitarist.
I have also recorded a collection of gazals written by Khayyam. This set is again a duet sung by me and female singer Anshu Sharma. The album will be released on a new music label called Red Ribbons,… revealed the singer.
Omar Khayyam was an Islamic scholar who was a poet as well as a mathematician. He was quite well-known and respected for his collection of sensual love poems.
Anup Jalota’s set of Khayyam special gazals will be released in August by popular gazal singer Pankaj Udhas.
Songs like Chaand Angdaiyaan Le Raha Hai, Tumhare Shahar Ka Mausam, Main Nazar Se Pee Raha Hoon, Hum Se Achi to Kahin Aaine ki Khismat Hogi, Aisi Lagi Lagan, Main Nahi Makhan Khayo and Rang De Chunariya are some of his hits.
